About
Many moons ago, I studied art education at Western Michigan University. After working a few odd jobs, getting married and having babies, I began to think art would always be a hobby and never a profession. Little did I know the opportunity to teach would come to me in the most unexpected of ways; as a homeschool momma, something I never thought I would do. We devoured books, did wacky experiments, went on so many adventures exploring nature and museums and of course there was always art. It was a season of exhausting joy! As my children grew older and their educational needs changed, they were off to more traditional schools and I found myself longing to create and adventure with curious minds again. I started teaching art to inner city kiddos, worked for an after-school art program and eventually ended up working for a local museum, creating exhibit and outreach programs. My most recent dream was to own and operate my own brick & mortar art studio. A place where children and adults can explore, learn and enjoy the process of art and craft making. A place where people of all ages are reminded that they are created to create! (And it is coming true!) (photo credit: Lindsey Thompson, Lemonhearted.com) |
